PyPSA Spice | Kazahkstan

This 3-day training is designed to empower energy analysts, researchers, and policy advisors to master open-source energy system modelling using PyPSA-SPICE.

About our training

This three-day, in-person training introduces participants to the PyPSA modelling framework and PyPSA-SPICE, an open-source model builder for assessing national mid- and long-term energy scenarios using a least-cost, multi-sectoral optimisation approach.

Participants will learn how PyPSA-SPICE can be used to develop energy system models representing one or more countries across multiple interconnected regions linked by electricity transmission. The training covers the integration of the power, heat, and transport sectors, with a particular focus on the power sector, which is represented in a high level of detail.

The training also introduces PyPSA-SPICE Central Asia and its application to regional energy system analysis and scenario development.

Participants quote

"As Central Asia advances its energy transition and regional electricity trade, I learned how open-source modelling can address emerging market challanges. I'm keen to apply these frameworks in our regional energy system planning."
