Muhammad Hamza Naeem

Hamza Naeem joined Agora Energiewende in August 2024 as Project Manager (Power Electronics) in the Power System Transformation Team, based in Berlin. His expertise lies in renewable energy transition, grid integration, decentralized power systems, off-grid electrification, power markets, energy economics, and climate change mitigation. 

Prior to joining Agora, Hamza worked in Pakistan's energy sector, including as assistant director at the Ministry of Energy (Power), where he focused on renewable energy appraisal, development of solar & wind power plants, energy policies, and least-cost electrification strategies. He also worked at the Institute of Policy Studies, advocating for power sector reforms and energy transition in Pakistan, and previously collaborated with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on biomass-to-energy generation and cluster development. Hamza has written extensively on energy topics, producing numerous reports, research papers, and policy briefs. 

He holds master’s degree in electrical engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from HITEC University (Pakistan).
