Train the Trainer

Applications are now open for our Train-the-Trainer programme in Latin America.

Location & training dates:

• São Paulo, Brasil (the exact location will be announced at a later stage)
• 26-28 Mai 2026

Note: We ask interested organisations to apply as a group of 2-3 participants and submit one joint application, by preparing and uploading the following information:

CV section:
Please submit one single PDF containing a short bio for each participant, outlining:

• each participants' current role in developing and/or delivering workshops, trainings, or other learning and knowledge exchange formats;
• each participants' anticipated future role in designing and implementing such formats.

Cover letter section:
Please submit a letter of motivation highlighting:

• your organisation, its core areas of expertise, and the role that capacity development formats play within the organisation;
• the planned workshop, training, or knowledge-sharing topic(s) for which this Train the Trainer program is relevant, including the intended target audience(s);
• an overview of past and planned future trainings delivered by your organisation.

Note: Only applications that include a specific training idea in the cover letter will be considered.

Participants will leave the Train-the-Trainer programme with the skills to design and deliver interactive learning experiences for civil society organisations on any climate and energy topics. 

Specifically, participants will be able to:

1. Identify target group needs and characteristics and develop concise, tailored learning objectives to ensure participants of their learning formats leave with knowledge gaps filled and practical skills acquired.
2. Identify, select and apply interactive learning tools and approaches to foster collaboration, dialogue, knowledge-sharing and collective learning in the training that they deliver.
3. Develop and review plans, resources and content for the formats of their choice (webinar, event, workshop, training programme) for civil society organisations on climate and energy topics. These should be practical, engaging and aligned with intended learning outcomes.
4. Enhance instructional and facilitation skills using diverse tools and interactive activities to create dynamic and participatory learning environments that maximise learner engagement and retention.

This training is reserved exclusively for non-profit think tanks, CSO and research institutes from Latin American ODA-recipient countries. Eligibility criteria to be met by organisations and their applying staff are

• Non-profit organisations based in a LATAM-ODA recipient country
• Organisations with an interest in delivering (or already having started delivering) trainings
• Application as a group of 2-3 staff members jointly developing a training idea
• Participants should have relevant technical knowledge on their intended training topic(s)
• No prior experience in training development or delivery required
• Participants must have sufficient English proficiency

Location & Cost

The 3-day training programme will take place in São Paulo, Brasil. The training will be held on Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th May 2026.
 
Costs
Participation in the training is free of charge. Participants will receive:

• Access to the 3 days' training with no fee
• 4 nights’ accommodation
• Breakfast and lunches during the training days
• Contribution to flight costs (roundtrip) to/from São Paulo (contribution to flight cost of max. 700 EUR per participant for an economy flight)

Participants will be expected to cover:

• Visa costs
• Any local transport during the training days
• Dinners
• Any incidental expenses outside of the trainings
