Benjamin Görlach
Lead EU Climate Economics and Finance
Benjamin Görlach is Lead EU Climate Economics and Finance at Agora Energiewende, where he works on questions related to the transformation of the EU economy to climate neutrality, with focus on the financing and policy incentives of the transformation. Benjamin has been with Agora Energiewende since 2025.
Before this, Benjamin Görlach was with the Ecologic Institute for 16 Years. As Head of Economics, he led multiple projects on EU climate policy, especially on the implementation and further development of emissions trading and CBAM. Besides, he led a programme for capacity building on emissions trading in emerging economies for more than a decade. From 2007 to 2009, he was a desk officer at the German Emissions Trading Authority. Before this, he worked for the Ecologic Institute as an environmental economist, analysing climate as well as water, soil and nature protection policies.
Benjamin Görlach studied economics in Freiburg, Dublin and Maastricht, where he completed an M.Sc. in International Economic Studies.
