Kevin Tu is Chief Advisor China at Agora Energiewende. He is also an adjunct professor at the School of Environment of Beijing Normal University, and a non-resident fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, the Institut français des relations internationales (Ifri), the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, and the Institute of Energy at Peking University.
Kevin served as Founding Managing Director of Agora Energy China from 2021 to 2026. Prior to that, he led the China energy and climate programmes at the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and held senior management positions in the energy consulting business and the oil and gas industry. Kevin brings more than three decades of solid experience in the energy and environmental fields across the Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe. His research spans the full spectrum of energy issues, including fossil fuel value chains, energy transitions, energy sector reforms, and climate change, with a focus on China’s relations with major economies, and their implications for China’s energy and climate policies.
Kevin holds a Master of Resource & Environmental Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical & and Mechanical Engineering.
