Hamburg University of Technology – Institute of Environmental Technology and Energy Economics (IUE)

The Institute of Environmental Technology and Energy Economics (IUE) at Hamburg University of Technology explores different aspects of energy supply and use with a clear focus on renewable energy sources. The overarching goal of its research activities is to gain a better understanding of the technical, economic and ecological factors that determine energy systems and how these systems can change towards sustainability. A major research focus of the institute is on modeling, analysis, and evaluation of hydrogen-based energy carriers. Studies include the production, supply, and use of hydrogen and gaseous hydrogen derivatives such as methane and ammonia, as well as liquid hydrogen-based energy carriers such as naphtha, kerosene, methanol, and ethanol.
